Provide First Aid (Includes CPR)

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the essential qualification for meeting workplace first aid requirements.

In this course, you’ll gain the practical skills and confidence to respond to a range of first aid situations. You’ll learn how to manage injuries and medical emergencies, and provide care until professional help arrives.

Training follows the latest guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council, so you’ll be learning the most up-to-date, trusted first aid practices.

Course Duration

This is a blended course combining online learning and in-person training. Students must complete the online pre-course work before participating in the practical assessment on-site. Online learning can be completed in one sitting or over several sessions, depending on your pace.

Online: Allow up to 4 hours

Face-to-Face Training & Assessment: 2 hours

Assessment

Students are assessed through written, practical, and scenario-based activities to ensure competence in all required areas including Knowledge based assessment and Practical Assessments.

Age Requirement

Minimum age: 14 years (with parental permission)

Certification Validity

  • HLTAID009 – Provide CPR: 12 months

  • HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support: 36 months

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid: 36 months

Course Content

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Recognise and assess an emergency situation

  • Ensure safety for yourself, bystanders, and the casualty

  • Seek assistance from emergency services

  • Perform CPR following the latest Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines

  • Provide first aid in line with established principles

  • Manage and comfort the casualty, obtaining consent where possible

  • Use available first aid equipment safely and effectively

  • Monitor the casualty’s condition and respond appropriately

  • Accurately communicate incident details to emergency services

  • Complete workplace or site documentation and maintain confidentiality

  • Recognise psychological impacts on yourself and others and seek support if needed

  • Contribute to reviewing the first aid response when required

Certificate Issuance

A PDF Statement of Attainment will be emailed on the same day as successful course completion, provided a verified USI is submitted and all assessments are completed.

Safe Work Australia recommends renewing CPR certification (HLTAID009) every 12 months, while the full HLTAID011 qualification is valid for 3 years.

Who This Course is For

HLTAID011 is suitable for both beginners and those with previous first aid experience who are comfortable learning through blended delivery.

Important Information

  • Students must be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin and infant manakin.
