Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
HLTAID009 equips you with the essential knowledge and skills to provide effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Through a blend of self-paced online theory and in-person practical training, you will learn how to respond to and manage cardiac and breathing-related emergencies using the DRSABCD Primary Survey and CPR techniques.
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
Duration
E-Learning: 2–2.5 hours, can be completed in one sitting or across multiple sessions
Face-to-Face Practical Training & Assessment: 2 hours
Assessment: Written, practical, and scenario-based assessment
Age Requirement: Minimum 14 years (with parental permission)
Certificate Validity: HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, valid for 12 months
Course Content
During this course, students will learn to:
Recognise and assess an emergency situation
Ensure safety for self, bystanders, and casualty
Assess the casualty and recognise the need for CPR
Seek assistance from emergency services
Perform CPR according to ARC guidelines
Display respectful behaviour towards the casualty
Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) correctly
Accurately convey incident details to emergency services
Report incident details per workplace or site procedures
Maintain privacy and confidentiality in line with policies
Recognise possible psychological impacts and seek support
Contribute to a review of the first aid response as required
Same-Day Certificate
Upon successful completion of training and assessment (with a verified USI), a PDF Statement of Attainment in HLTAID009 will be emailed the same day.
Safe Work Australia recommends renewing your HLTAID009 CPR certification every 12 months through a refresher course with a Registered Training Organisation.

Factors to Consider
Students must demonstrate the ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin and infant manakin.
