COUNSELLING SERVICES
Supporting people through life's challenges with understanding, practical support and genuine connection.
At The Inspired Collective, we provide person-centred, trauma-informed counselling designed to give people a safe, respectful and non-judgemental space to talk, reflect and work towards meaningful change.
Our counselling approach is informed by professional training, evidence-informed therapeutic approaches and, importantly, real-world lived experience.
About Nathanael
Nathanael is an Australian Army veteran with extensive experience in emergency services, high-risk environments and supporting people through challenging circumstances.
His experience serving in the Australian Defence Force has provided him with a strong understanding of the unique pressures that can affect veterans, serving personnel and their families, including the challenges associated with service, transition to civilian life, relationships, identity, work, stress and trauma.
This lived experience, combined with counselling training and a strong focus on evidence-informed practice, allows Nathanael to approach counselling with authenticity, empathy and an understanding that sometimes people don't need to be judged or "fixed" — they need someone who will listen, understand and work alongside them.
Areas of Support
Trauma & Trauma-Informed Counselling
We provide trauma-informed counselling for people who have experienced difficult, distressing or overwhelming events. Our approach focuses on creating safety, building trust and helping clients understand how their experiences may affect their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships and day-to-day life.
Veterans & ADF Personnel
We have a particular interest in supporting current and former ADF members and their families. Counselling can provide a confidential space to explore issues such as adjustment and transition, relationships, emotional wellbeing, identity, work and life after service.
We recognise that every veteran's experience is different. Seeking support is not a sign of weakness; it can be an important step towards understanding challenges and moving forward.
CBT-Informed Counselling
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches can help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
CBT-informed strategies may be used to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop practical coping strategies, build healthier behaviours and work towards achievable goals. Where appropriate, CBT techniques can be incorporated into a broader person-centred and trauma-informed approach.

Children & Adolescents
We provide age-appropriate counselling support for children and young people, recognising that they may communicate and process experiences differently from adults.
Our approach may incorporate conversation, age-appropriate activities, strengths-based strategies and therapeutic techniques to help young people understand and express their emotions, develop coping skills and build confidence.
Where appropriate, parents and caregivers may be involved as part of the broader support process.
Family & Relationship Counselling
Relationships and family life can be affected by stress, communication difficulties, life changes, trauma and individual challenges.
We provide a supportive environment where individuals, couples and families can explore relationship difficulties, improve communication, understand different perspectives and work towards healthier relationships.
Our approach focuses on respect, communication, understanding and practical strategies for positive change.
General Wellbeing & Life Challenges
Counselling doesn't have to begin at a crisis point. You may simply feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure about what comes next.
We can support clients working through challenges involving:
Stress and emotional wellbeing
Life transitions and major changes
Work-related pressures
Relationships and family difficulties
Confidence and self-esteem
Emotional regulation
Behavioural patterns
Grief and loss
Personal goals and direction
Adjustment and change
Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)
Our Employee Assistance Programs provide confidential, practical and accessible counselling support for small to medium-sized businesses and their employees.
We understand that smaller businesses may not have the resources or need for a large corporate EAP provider. Our approach is personal, flexible and tailored to your workplace, providing employees with a trusted place to seek support with stress, anxiety, relationships, family pressures, trauma, workplace challenges, burnout and life changes.
Our EAP services can include:
Individual counselling and early intervention
Trauma-informed support
Workplace stress and burnout
Family and relationship support
Veteran and first responder support
Support following difficult or critical incidents
Manager and leadership support
Flexible face-to-face or online sessions
We work alongside your business to create an EAP that suits the size, needs and culture of your organisation, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.
A Person-Centred Approach
There is no single approach that works for everyone.
Our counselling begins with you — your experiences, your circumstances, your goals and what you want to achieve from counselling.
We aim to create a space where you can speak openly without judgement and work collaboratively towards practical and sustainable change.
Our approach draws from person-centred, trauma-informed and CBT-informed principles, while recognising the importance of each individual's circumstances, strengths and lived experience.
You don't have to have everything figured out before you ask for help. Sometimes taking the first step is simply having a conversation with someone who will listen.
