Choking Awareness and LifeVac (Non-Accredited)

This workshop is designed to raise awareness and give you the confidence to respond quickly and effectively in a choking emergency.

Delivered in collaboration with ZaZa’s Legacy and LifeVac, this session focuses on prevention, early recognition, and life-saving action, because when it comes to choking, every second counts.

You’ll learn simple, practical skills in a supportive environment, helping you feel prepared to act if the unthinkable happens.

Course Duration

This is a face-to-face workshop with no online pre-course requirements.

Workshop Duration: 60–90 minutes

Assessment

There is no formal assessment for this workshop.

The focus is on awareness, education, and practical demonstrations to build confidence in real-life situations.

Age Requirement

Suitable for adults and young people aged 12+ (parental supervision recommended for younger participants).

Certification

This is a non-accredited workshop.

A certificate of attendance can be provided upon request.

Course Content

In this workshop, you will learn to:

  • Understand the risks and causes of choking

  • Recognise the signs of partial and complete airway obstruction

  • Respond quickly and appropriately to a choking emergency

  • Perform back blows and chest thrusts for infants and children

  • Understand the role of CPR in a choking situation

  • Learn about prevention strategies to reduce choking risks

  • Gain awareness of airway clearance devices, including LifeVac

  • Learn about Choking Prevention in our community with ZaZa’s Legacy

LifeVac Australia
